Planning for the Quarter

Do you teach? Sunday School and Scouts count as teaching. We have an online resource in our e-book collection (available to you 24/7) that might help you with group management.

Tools for teaching[computer file] / Barbara Gross Davis.
San Francisco, Calif. : Jossey-Bass Publishers, 1993.xxv, 429 p. ; 23 cm.

You may access our e-books through the card catalog or through NetLibrary or through GALILEO and NetLibrary (you get the current password to use GALILEO at home from your Librarian).

If you need a reminder on how to create a free account in NetLibrary, we have an informational video on-line.

Where are you going?

Today is registration day for NMTC Spring Quarter (which begins next Tuesday). Orientation is offered twice during the day (8:30 AM and 4 PM).

If you aren't sure where you're going in life - come and see what NMTC has to offer.

Just show me

Attending workshops opens my eyes to the benefits that are obvious to others. I need to be shown.

Encyclopedia Britannica has videos (which you already knew if you've scrolled down the left hand column of Research Tools). The Academic version (which NMTC has) will be getting longer videos April 16.

If you have access to the Student edition through your Public Library or school (ask that librarian for the GALILEO Password) - you'll see different videos both short and long explaining a variety of subjects.

The math videos are helpful at illustrating concepts that are hard to grasp when someone just tells you.

The password for home use of GALILEO is available to the citizens of Georgia from your librarian. Some resources noted in this BLOG are only available to NMTC patrons.

Express links

GALILEO offers users a way to create express links to databases. You know that express takes you to the head of the line, gets you in quick, is speedy! You can create an express link for yourself by clicking on the icon at the end of the Database information. The icon looks like a push pin.

Try this link to get right into Encyclopedia Britannica.

You'll need to enter the GALILEO password off campus (you get that from your Georgia Librarian).

I went to a workshop on EB today. I'm excited about the resources available to you in EB - Ebsco and ProQuest articles, web sites, and videos (yes, videos). Worksheets to save your research.

....Go exploring
.........You'll be amazed

and create your own Express links.

Pictures are worth 1000 words

The 12 How do I find... videos are helping people remember how to access the information in GALILEO. Videos will be added regularly.

What is the point?

Many Americans see little point to the web

A little under one-third of U.S. households have no Internet access and do not plan to get it, with most of the holdouts seeing little use for it in their lives, according to a survey released on Friday......

Do you have internet access at home? What do you use it for?

More awards

tis the season to be receiving acclaim.

Georgia Mining Association has announced that Patrick Benham, Terrence Carter, Nikki Masters, and Celeste Patrick are recipients of The Georgia Mining Foundation’s 2007 Technical College Scholarship Program.

Spring flowers

Looking at the gorgeous display of daffodils, tulips, phlox, dogwood trees, cherry trees....the list goes on.

Would you like to know when to plant and how to get the amazing colors - perhaps year round?

We have an Ebsco database - Garden Literature Index that isn't just an index. It has full text articles about gardening. The articles are taken from professional horticulture magazines and periodicals.

There is a YouTube video with directions for finding articles in Garden Literature Index.
