NMTC password changing

GALILEO is paid for by the taxpayers of Georgia for all the citizens of Georgia to use!

There are four parts to GALILEO -Public, K-12, Technical Colleges, and Board of Regents. Each section has information that will help their patrons.

.....Any citizen of Georgia may get the password from their local public librarian for the public library sector of GALILEO.
.....A student may get the password from their schools' librarian (K-12, Technical Colleges, Board of Regents schools) for the school sections of GALILEO.

Each school adds databases and web sites just for their students. NMTC has added over 30 web sites that support the programs at NMTC.

The password changes regularly. On Monday June 27, North Metro's password will change.
Stop by the library (Room 103)to get the new password from the librarian.

What did my neighborhood look like?

Did you ever wonder what your neighborhood looked like?
If you live in Georgia there is a resource in the Georgia Digital Library that can show you!

Georgia Aerial Photographs
The photos and indexes are from the Map Room of the University of Georgia Libraries, which has a collection of 225,000 aerial photographs of Georgia covering the period from 1938 through the 1980s. The photographs and indexes were originally produced by the U. S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS). Indexes and photography produced by the U. S. Geological Survey will also be available.

For a relatively current look at your neighborhood you can go to Google for satellite maps- do a search for satellite maps.

TerraServer
is another site that has satellite maps http://terraserver.microsoft.com/default.aspx

Check out your neighborhood from the air without flying!

Oil change, new air pump?

You take your car in for an oil change and the mechanic tells you your car needs a new "whatsis"? Could you fix it yourself if you had a few directions?

Look at the Auto Repair Reference Center in GALILEO- they have pictures and diagrams for cars going back to the 70's (and a few models before then)!

Happy tinkering.

Ask the librarian for the password to use GALILEO at home- yes it's available for home use to Georgia residents,

Humming a tune

Have you woken up with a tune running through your head? There you are humming away but you can't think of the lyrics? You can remember a phrase but that's it! Where can you find the rest of the lyrics?

On GALILEO in SKS WebSelect you can type in "lyrics" and find several sites that have the lyrics to American music.

Another way to find lyrics is to go to Google type - lyrics: and the phrase of the song. Notice the colon after the word lyrics- that helps Google limit the search.

Happy humming!
