Free time

Spring break for NMTC!
The Library will be closed this Saturday, March 25.
The Library will be open next week (regular hours) as Georgia Highlands returns from their Spring break.
The Librarian will be taking a break next week- no Blogging till April 3 (which is Open Registration Day for NMTC).

Go Hort!

Students and faculty in the Environmental Horticulture program have left for Utah to participate in the annual competition for Horticulture programs!

NMTC has done very well against the "big boys". Our students are well prepared to tackle all parts of a landscaping project from design development to installation.

Just in case

If you'd like to explore during the break....We added Scirus to GALILEO. Scirus is the most comprehensive science-specific search engine on the Internet. Driven by the latest search engine technology, Scirus searches over 250 million science-specific Web pages, enabling you to quickly:

•Pinpoint scientific, scholarly, technical and medical data on the Web.
•Find the latest reports, peer-reviewed articles, patents, pre prints and journals that other search engines miss.
•Offer unique functionalities designed for scientists and researchers.

Scirus has proved so successful at locating science-specific results on the Web that the Search Engine Watch Awards voted Scirus 'Best Specialty Search Engine' in 2001 and 2002 and 'Best Directory or Search Engine Website' WebAward from Web Marketing Association in 2004.

How Tall Is It?

The World Almanac is a delightful resource for finding the tallest, the longest, the deepest geographic feature!

"The World Almanacs, first published in 1868, is a reference database that covers arts and entertainment, U.S. cities and states, people in the news, the nations of the world, sports, the environment, vital statistics, science and technology, computers, taxes and much more.
The database is made up of:
The World Almanac and Book of Facts
The World Almanac of the U.S.A.
The World Almanac of U.S. Politics
The World Almanac for Kids
The World Almanac Knowledge Source

The default search on the Basic Search screen searches all 5 of the almanacs. If you wish to search them individually, go to the Advanced or Expert Search screens. Use the "Limit to" pull-down menu to restrict your search to only one the almanacs listed above. "

Spring is in the air

Nature is painting the earth with a wide brush of color. Daffodils are almost finished, Red buds are beginning, Cherry trees are bursting forth, all abloom after the monochrome winter.

Garden, Landscape & Horticulture Index™ (GLHI) is the premier resource for access to articles about plants and gardens. Topics include horticulture, garden and landscape design and history, botany, ecology, plant and garden conservation, garden management, and horticultural therapy. This index and abstract product is designed for gardening enthusiasts, professionals, and students of horticulture and of garden and landscape design and history. Indexed and abstracted are more than 300 core titles, the majority of which are published in English.
