Listening to NPR this morning on the way to work, there was a story about the General Pencil Company in New Jersey. They make pencils- not just those no.2 pencils you use for tests but pencils used by artists! It was fascinating to hear how an American manufacturer has moved with the times to stay competitive and productive and keep their factory open in America!
I looked in GALILEO for transcripts of the story. I didn't find this particular story- though Lexis-Nexis has NPR radio transcripts.
You can read the story at the NPR site http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4724377 Pencil Company Sharpens Marketing Approach

Coming up on the 4th of July, it was nice to hear a positive story about American manufacturing.
