May 11 2005, Marietta Daily Journal (pg A-2), Today in History, "1904- Surrealist artist Salvador Dali was born in Figueras, Spain" Salvador Dali died in 1989 (Grove Art Online).
You can find out more about Salvador Dali in several places - like the Encyclopedia Britannica- but today I'd suggest you look in Grove Art Online.
Grove Art Online now provides access to all of the articles from The Oxford Companion to Western Art (ed. Hugh Brigstocke, 2001). The Oxford Companion to Western Art (OCWA) is one of the best reference resources for western art offering over 2800 entries on major subjects in the visual arts covering major museums, artists, styles, periods, techniques, materials, and more.
These resources can be found in GALILEO http://www.galileo.usg.edu (ask the circulation librarian for the password to use GALILEO at home).
How to Find Grove Art Online in GALILEO
Open up GALIELO
----select the second tab - Arts and Humanities
-------scroll down to Grove Art Online
----------at the search box type in Salvador (you'll get 12 entries but only two are for Salvador Dali)
-------------There is an image connection in Grove Art Online where you can pull up the pictures by the artist
